'Salaam-e-Ishq'

Movie: 'Salaam-e-Ishq'
Theatre: Innovative Multiplex Bangalore
Show: 25th Jan (Thu) 10-1 (Night)
With: Gaurav Singh, Vikas Chandra, Alok Shukla
It was another 'Garbage' item by 'Nikhil Adwani' after 'Kal ho na ho', though later was a big hit, I am sure this won't be. But this is what was expected from 'Nikhil Adwani'. With six couples story was aimless and boring lenghty. Out of six Govinda's pair did a good job and Sohail Khan's was ok. Priyanka chopra's acting was too artificial and sorry to say but akshay khanna's also joined her in poor acting. Anil kappor and Juhi were ok, but definetely not entertaining. The rhythm was completely lost and janta in the theatre were just waiting for the end. In the same line with anil n juhi, john abraham n vidya balan were playing the serious part, though John was little impressive. I don't want to talk about salmaan, as this is what he can do.
Movie is full of unnecessary songs. Shankar, Ehsaan n Loy did a fair job, the songs are seasonal, but definetely much more is expected from the trio.
Overall its a 'must not watch'.

GURU

Movie Name: GURU

Date: 13th Jan 2007
Show: 10 pm- 1 am
With: Alok Kashyap, Gaurav Singh, Alok Shukla, Vikas Chandra

It’s another masterpiece by Maniratnam. I first thought it would be a documentary on Dhirubhai ambani. The ‘Reliance’ was replaced by ‘Shakti’. But it was a complete Hindi movie with all the elements like emotions, music and lessons makes it complete drama. Abhishek Bachhan is the ‘guru kanth desai’ in the movie who left his small village in Gujarat after failing to pass Matriculation for Turki. His life starts when is decided to come back to India and starts his own business in ‘Keela Silk’. The story begins with many characters helping him to grow, many trying to pull him down, many against the way ‘GURU’ works and many who were always with Guru. Guru was not an ideal persons, he did all he could do by hook or by crook to grow his business. At last system goes against him, but guru convinced them that he was right with the way he worked. For detail of ups and downs plz watch it.
Now where is Aishwarya Rai in the movie? Sujata (Aishwarya Rai) was always with Guru. Though Guru wanted to marry her just to get money from his father to start his business, but it ended up in “true love”. As a village girl she looked so natural and cute and I think this is the kind of character suits her. It was not just Aish though; one can see the element of Maniratnam playing behind. He took best out of her.
Abhishek was good, though he could have done better, because it was the film centered on him and had very strong character.
Direction is very tight except at the end, where Guru tries to convince the public and the judicial system. The dialogue delivery and the speech he made could have been much stronger to have more impact.
Nevertheless it was a terrific effort by whole cast. The locations were amazing, the oldies look was just right.
After all, what made movie so effective is A. R. Rahman. Right music at Right scene is what you can expect from this guy. It appears to me that he is into the scene while composing the music for it. He always keeps his best for Maniratnam. Songs are of A. R. Rahman brand, but good enough to entertain you.
Overall a must watch and thanks to the whole team of ‘GURU’.
